The Journey - Ancient Angkor

It was a five days trip to the ancient city. We could cover quite a bit with the three-day pass which cost us USD 40, which has allowed me to visit Angkor Wat (itself) for all three days. In fact, I think we had visited (briefly) most of the important sites including a half day tour to the floating village of Tonle Sap.

Used to be a buddhist university, Preah Khan is a MUST visit.

We enjoyed the show - in the art of music and Apsara dancing.

Where we lived for several nights - value for money and good service (recommended).

Angkor Wat - Color Edited

Just tried out some color change for pictures that I have taken. The last picture is a total change as the sun sets not at this side (but I quite like it).

The Angkor Archaeological Park

Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 sq. km, including forested area, the Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. These include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. UNESCO has set up a wide-ranging programme to safeguard this symbolic site and its surroundings.

I was there last week and just back yesterday. The month of April, Siem Reap is roasting hot. I had a tough time coping with the heat and dust, dirt roads. Nevertheless, it was a great trip and an inspiring one.

I have taken lots lots of pictures. I think I will probably be writing about Angkor for the next two months.
