Words Women Use

I got an e-mail (without the pictures) today from a friend entitled 'Words Women Use'. Eeerrrr.... I have no intention to insult or offend anyone, the only intention is just to share this piece of information and to understand more about women. Indeed, I am a little nervous because majority of my blog readers are female.

Fine. This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

Five Minutes. If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

Nothing. This is the calm before the storm. This means 'something' and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with 'nothing' usually end in 'fine'.

Go Ahead. This is a dare, not permission, DON'T DO IT!

Loud Sigh. Although not actually a word, the loud sigh is often misunderstood by men. A 'Loud Sigh' means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over 'Nothing'.

That's Okay. This is one of the most dangerous statements that woman can make to a man. 'That's Okay' means that she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

Thanks. This is the least used of all words in the female vocabulary. If a woman is thanking you, do not question it, just say you're welcome and back out of the room slowly.

Famous quotes :

Behind every successful man, the saying goes, there's a GOOD woman. Behind every successful woman is herself.

A woman is like a tea bag... you don't know how strong she is until you put her in hot water.

If you want breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen.

Well these pictures are of course not mine. I copied them from the official site of Miss Universe. The last three are my favorites to win. Check here : http://www.missuniverse.com/index2.html

I think 'nothing' should be the most common word being used. Actually i was attracted by the pictures, only later i found out that you are talking about something else.

I use words like 'nothing', 'Go Ahead', 'That's Okay' and 'Thanks' quite often but there is no other meaning behind those words. If i use the other three words, i normally mean the opposite, e.g: 'fine' means 'i am not fine', 'five minutes' means 'more than five minutes' etc...

Hilarious and so true. It is interesting how you have to "listen between the words" when you talk to women. Although I myself am female, I agree a lot about this article. Thanks for sharing the fun and insight.

Wah, nice pics wor!

Funny that men have to read between the lines when they listen to a woman. Ironic but so true.

Then again, when I say 5 minutes, I mean 5 minutes. Perhaps because I'm punctual but when a man says "Be there in 5 minutes", he's actually still at home.

I must admit that when I say "it's nothing" when I'm upset, any fools will know that there is definitely something. Such an over-used word, huh?

One thing I don't do is threaten. You will never know if a man decides to take it up. For all you know, he has been waiting for you to say it. And it becomes her fault. Not his.

Hummphh! Should put up a post on MEN. Haha!

Not so long ago in the Uk there was a series called "what he says what she says." It was all about this sort of thing. An example was how that when a Women says "Maybe" she means NO! and that when men hear the "maybe" or use "maybe" they mean maybe, and how men get totaly confused with the way women use words. It was also about the things that drive each of us sexes up the wall, like men not asking for directions and women always being late, or not even dressed to go out, while the man is waitting in the car ready to go to the party. Really funny series.

well, many men share the common knowledge that women are completely inexplicable and unpredictable. part of the reason being woman do not normally like men to understand them too well. is that true ?

Haha, we are a mysterious lot! Go figure. You will never truly know us as we will never truly know you.

I personally think that Ms South Africa should win cause she is the only one who looks consistently good looking in all the photos. Some look good in the official portraits but er, so different in the others!

ai ling : yes, ms south africa is hot in the pictures. did you see her interview ? she doesn't look that pretty ? perhaps the shooting angle wasnt good. but you never know...maybe she will win.

charlene : you mean comment ? oh, because there were some grammar and spelling mistakes. so i removed the comment and rewrote it again. nothing serious. dont worry. well i am not often into categorizing / judging people because no one is perfect. i, myself quite a flaw, many shortcomings.

ps : well of course, judging and choosing my favorites to win the miss universe crown doesn't count (i think).

Hi Patrick, thanks for your recent visit to my blog and the comments you have posted. I value each of them. I agree with you that you have to listen between the lines when a woman speaks but you must also pretend that you do not understand. Never let a woman know that you understand what she said or you will be in trouble.

Hi there, I linked from Charlene's blog and found your latest post amusing. too often men tend to exaggeratedly think of women as mysterious animals, but the truth is women look at men in the same way. Honestly, I'd like to hear more about "words men use," since this would probably help me better when dealing with guys.
Anyways, thanks for sharing your idea! I dig it a lot!

Good afternoon Patrick,

Hehehe..there seems to have sort of debate session between men & women over your recent blog! interesting! little charlene curiosity aroused! :) seeing your view point. Brb! (like what you said, most of your readers are "female"). I am beginning to think, this might be one of the reasons behind. Keep writing Patrick, you are awesome really! :)

I'm new to ur your blog.
I agree with the "5 minutes".
i have wait for half an hour or more after i heard this famous word from female," 5 minutes".

In that "5 minutes" they are busy with their make-up, hair and choosing what to wear.

thank you for all the comments.
Men and women have never seemed to fully understand each other. It will probably continue this way, but I think that's part of the magic of it all.

'When I was a young man I vowed never to marry until I found the ideal woman. Well, I found her but, alas, she was waiting for the ideal man.' -- Alain (1818 - 1951)

I like that quote from Alain. :)

primrose : you know, i like alain's quote too. but i am just a little curious...he lived really long (1818 - 1951).
